Deacons
The role of Deacons in our ministry is one of compassion, witness, and service to others, including the poor, the hungry, the sick, the lost, the friendless, the oppressed, those burdened by unjust practices or structures, or anyone in distress. At First Presbyterian, they do these tasks through financial assistance to struggling families to pay their utility bills; holiday food baskets; donations of food, clothing, and other items to the Gospel Mission and El Refugio, and providing congregational care, like serving communion to home bound congregational members, as needed.
