The Reverend John C. Cheek, our pastor, preaches at First Presbyterian on the first three Sundays of the month, and ministers to our congregation during the intervening weeks. He believes everyone in this troubled world should seek justice, love kindness and walk humbly with God. An ordained Presbyterian minister for the past 12 years, he had a former career in law enforcement.
He preaches biblically-based sermons that speak to our everyday discipleship in this world. He leads our congregation to think beyond ourselves to ways we can bring God’s love, grace and joy to the community. He shows the way by teaching, by preaching excellent sermons, by encouraging all of us with his wit, wisdom and compassion, and by providing free grief and stress counseling to community groups.
John is married to his wife Lou, who is a practicing audiologist. They live in Tucson, AZ, where their three sons and four grandsons also live.
