There are urgent needs at this intersection of the needs of children and the struggles of poverty. That is why we have chosen this intersection as our mission focus.
We are currently working to enhance the programs of El Refugio, the local Children’s, Youth and Family Department (CYFD), the Gospel
Mission, and border ministry programs.
We also provide utility assistance and Thanksgiving baskets to the needy in our neighborhood.
Our Fun ‘n' Squares program makes quilts for hospice patients, nursing home patients, and women and children in domestic violence shelters.
We support Presbyterian Disaster Assistance which helps people in the United States and around the world cope with the ravages of earthquakes, floods, fires, drought and war.
And we provide space for a number of important community groups to hold meetings: the WWW Extension Club, Boy Scouts, Hi Lo Silvers, Take Off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS), the United Church of Christ, and the Silver City Square Dancers, as well as classes in Tai Chi and Embodied Prayer. The Imagination Library, which provides books for infants and pre-school children, has its Southwest offices in our facility.
